Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use them in three categories, and only one of them is required for the site to work.
Because this site is published from Spain, cookie use is governed by article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE) and by the GDPR. That means non-essential cookies are only set after you have given free, specific, informed and unambiguous consent — and that refusing must be as easy as accepting. It is: the banner gives both choices equal weight on the first screen.
The three categories
Necessary cookies
Required for the site to function and for us to remember your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off, because without them we would have to ask about cookies on every page view. They do not track you across other websites.
The main item we store is your consent choice itself, kept in your browser’s local storage so the banner does not reappear on every visit.
Analytics cookies — optional
If you allow them, we use Google Analytics to understand which articles readers find useful, how people arrive at the site, and where pages fall short. This is aggregate audience measurement, and it directly shapes what we publish next.
Decline them and we simply have less information about what is working. Nothing about the site changes for you.
Advertising cookies — optional
If you allow them, third-party advertising partners including Google AdSense may set cookies to serve advertising and measure its performance. These may be used to show ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Decline them and you will still see advertising — it will simply be less targeted. Advertising is what pays for this site, and we would rather explain that plainly than obscure it.
To be exact about how this works: Google’s advertising script is present on every page, because Google requires it in order to verify and review the site. It is loaded under Google Consent Mode, which means that until you choose otherwise it is told that advertising storage, advertising personalisation and analytics are all denied. In that state it does not read or write cookies on your device and does not personalise what it shows. When you accept, we send an updated signal covering only the categories you allowed.
How to change your choice
Use the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of any page. It reopens the consent panel, where you can accept all, reject everything non-essential, or set each category individually. Your choice takes effect immediately.
We do not use dark patterns. Accept and reject are given equal prominence, and rejecting is never hidden behind an extra screen.
Browser controls
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so affects all websites, not just this one, and may break functionality elsewhere. Browsers commonly provide these controls under Settings → Privacy.
Third-party opt-outs
Beyond our own controls, you can opt out of advertising personalization directly:
- Google Ads Settings, for personalization across Google services;
- The Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page;
- The Digital Advertising Alliance’s WebChoices tool;
- Your browser’s own tracking protection or opt-out preference signal.

Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent at any time from the Cookie preferences link in the footer, with the same ease you gave it. Withdrawing does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand. Cookies already stored can be removed through your browser settings.
